The New Benchmark for Hunts to come?

The hunt in which all others will be compared.....Possibly.

Ah...the SL Hunt. A time when us avatars can bop around SL going to different stores to "search' for hidden goodies. Hence the name "hunts". The phenomenon of the Hunt started last year, and the biggest one at the time was the Halloween "Ghost" hunt. This was the first hunt I had even been on, and I was totally geeked about visiting new stores and more importantly....getting free shit!! I was so excited going home and opening up all my good stuff. But the excitement really did not last long. Alot of the things were generic, and sub-par at best.

Then came the POE (Peace on Earth) hunt, in which globes were scattered over the grid to the tune of over 400 stores. I managed to obtain each and every one of them. So again....I went home excited, wanting to know what I had received for my efforts. This Hunt was better, but toward the 80th globe I opened....it started to have this "I will never wear this item" kind of vibe, and I stopped opening up the globes. To date....I still have over 300 globes to open in my inventory. I think they are hanging out with the rest of the "ghosts" that I did not get around to opening up too.

Then I hear the "buzz" around SL.....avatar's whispering "Have you done the Twisted Hunt?" At that point I had swore off Hunts entirely. I was just done with spending time finding these things, and not be happy with what I got. Now I know "Damn....she should be happy, that stuff was free...ungrateful bitch", and you can say that.......but I am just being totally honest with how I felt. One of my friends asked me why I was not participating, and I told her of my disappointment with prior hunts. She told me that this one was different and all the gifts were amazing.

So....I threw caution to the wind, and decided to give it one more shot. On prior hunts, for every "good" thing I received, I must have deleted 5-7 others that I just did not like. I was really hoping that this would not be the case with the Twisted Hunt.

For starters, the Twisted hunt is the hardest hunt I have been on. The red box is Incredibly small and with alot of the stores having a Gothic decor to them.....the box blended in easily. The Twisted Hunt does have a group associated with it, in which the IM chat is up constantly, and hunters can ask for clues to each of the stores. This was a really helpful thing for the times where you are spending over 20 minutes in a store trying to find a box. Another thing I noticed about this hunt.....fellow hunters who were at the stores with you, were uber-friendly and we all had this group mentality to help each other find the box. There were always shout-outs of "I found it!" or "Over here!!" After finding the box, we would all teleport to the next store to "hunt" again.

I did manage to find all 103 boxes in a span of two days. So again....I went home to open all my little red boxes. I was kinda hopeful, but before starting this hunt I said to myself "Ok, I am going to give these damn hunts 1 more go. If this Twisted hunt sucks.....I am done with hunts completely". I know I said this before...but a friend told me "no...this one is good". I also decided that if it did suck....I was calling out my friend as a complete fucktard.

I opened 1 box.....fucking awesome
I opened a second box......fucking awesome
I opened up a third box......more fucking awesomeness

To date, I have opened up close to 70 of my boxes, and have actually only discarded about 3-4 of the items. The majority of the gifts fucking rock in this hunt. The gifts are of superior quality and the Twisted Hunt has given me some hope for future hunt.

Will up and coming Hunts be as good as this one? Who know? But I am so happy that I did participate in this one.

The Twisted Hunt presented by DV8, runs from March 1st-30th. Here is the starting point SLurl: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Lasombra/73/190/50

Also, look under "groups" in SL and join the "Twisted Hunt" group. You will be able to ask and receive clues in the group IM chat.

Happy Hunting all!
